Enzymes - The Spark Plug of Life
Enzymes are protein molecules which initiate and control nearly every biochemical process in the body. The presence of certain enzymes is what makes it possible for us to digest food, repair tissue, and rid our bodies of dangerous toxins.
Enzymes are indeed the spark plug of life, yet it is important to understand that the average American diet is enzyme-deficient. Refined and processed foods, as well as cooking at high temperatures, destroy enzymes. A diet which consists primarily of cooked food is undoubtedly seriously lacking in enzymes.
Enzyme deficiency contributes greatly to acidification of the body. Without sufficient enzymes, foods and proteins go undigested, and eventually ferment in the body, causing toxicity and acid overload.
Research studies strongly suggest that significant numbers of people with liver disease, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, tuberculosis and even obesity have low tissue enzyme levels. Even if your body has a sufficient quantity of enzymes to operate, these enzymes require specific pH environments in order to function. When the pH of the environment is too acidic, vital enzymes lose their structure and function and electrons cannot circulate, making them unavailable for the chemical reactions required for nutrient digestion and absorption.
pHion Enzyme contains 15 different systemic and digestive enzymes:
Serrazimes is a proteolytic enzyme that digests dead and damaged tissue, blood clots, cysts, and arterial plaque. It helps to support cardiovascular, joint, respiratory, and immune system health.
Bromelain is taken from the stem of the pineapple plant, this enzyme helps to breakdown proteins. Bromelain is most notable for its therapeutic effectiveness in the reduction of inflammation and decreasing swelling.
Papain is extracted from the papaya fruit; this enzyme splits protein peptides to powerfully digest protein foods.
Lipase breaks down fats into fatty acids and glycerol.
Amylase works to breakdown starch, glycogen and specific polysaccharides.
Protease is a digestive enzyme secreted by the pancreas that metabolizes carbohydrates, starch and protein.
Cellulase breaks down cellulose and glucans found in fiber foods.
Lactase breaks down lactose found in milk products.
Trypsin can split peptides and other amino acid compound found in protein foods.
Hemicellulase is a mixture of enzymes which can hydrolyze the indigestible components of plant fibers.
Phytase helps to increase bioavailability of minerals found in complex carbohydrates.
Malt Diastase works synergistically with amylase to digest carbohydrate rich foods like grains.
Invertase helps in the digestion of refined sugars.
Beta glucanase helps break down glucose polymers in grains such as barley, oats and wheat.
Alpha-galactosidase, digests complex carbohydrates found in legumes, whole grains, cereals, nuts and seeds.
